BGC Niagara is seeking candidates to carry out the duties of Part Time Aquatics, Recreation and Community Programs Supervisor at BGC Niagara – Niagara Falls Centre Location (8800 McLeod Road, Niagara Falls) and EJ Freeland Center Location (1555 Garrison Rd).
Position Overview:
The Aquatics, Recreation and Community Programs Supervisor is responsible for the safe, effective, and efficient delivery of aquatics, sport and recreation and community programs and services at the Niagara Falls or Fort Erie Location. The position is accountable to the Aquatics, Recreation and Community Programs Manager.
This is a part-time, hourly position offering compensation between $22.71 and $23.71 per hour. Candidates must have a minimum of two years’ experience delivering children’s programs and services, as well as a post-secondary diploma or degree, or be currently enrolled in a post-secondary program.

Qualifications:

  • Current Police Clearance with Vulnerable Sector Screen that is obtained within the last 6 months
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C
  • National Lifeguard certification
  • Lifesaving Swim Instructor certification
  • Completion or currently enrolled in post-secondary education
  • Experience working directly with children and/or delivering children’s programming
  • Must provide immunization records
  • A valid driver’s license and access to personal vehicle
  • HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development (can obtain after hire)
  • Food Handler’s certification (can obtain after hire)
  • Working knowledge of applicable legislation is an asset
  • Certified Pool Operator is an asset

Duties and Responsibilities:

Deliverables include but are not exclusive to:

  • Provide customer service, addressing customer concerns.
  • Ensure schedules are consistent with annual project plans including length of class, length of session and number of participants accommodated.
  • Ensure programs and services are delivered in accordance with organization’s program standards and meet standards of governing bodies, including but not exclusive to Lifesaving Society and applicable provincial sport organizations.
  • Ensure course curriculum and supplies are available on site for each program/service delivered.
  • Ensure children’s programs and services are delivered in accordance with HIGH FIVE’s Principles of Healthy Child Development.
  • Collect and report accurate attendance and participation data monthly.
  • Program employees are trained and supervised in practices in connection with health and wellness.
  • Facilities and equipment are clean and in good repair.
  • Aquatics and Community Centre opening and closing checklists are completed and documented.
  • Perform the duties of the Building Supervisor.
