PART-TIME ASSISTANT RETAIL MANAGER (POKÉMON PROFESSOR & TRADING CARD GAME SPECIALIST)

We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Part-Time Assistant Retail Manager to help lead our team and deliver an exceptional customer experience. The ideal candidate is a certified Pokémon Professor with extensive expertise in Pokémon TCG and other trading card games such as Magic: The Gathering and Yu-Gi-Oh!. This role combines leadership, sales, and event coordination to engage our gaming community while driving store performance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Certified Pokémon Professor status (active).
• Extensive knowledge of Pokémon TCG and other major trading card games.
• Retail or customer service experience preferred.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Availability for evenings, weekends, and event days.

RETAIL & LEADERSHIP SKILLS

• Team Leadership & Coaching
• Ability to train, motivate, and hold associates accountable for KPIs (PRO memberships, warranties, reservations, etc.).
• Develop staff product knowledge in gaming, collectibles, and TCGs so they can confidently engage customers.
• Business Acumen
• Understand sales goals, Power BI scorecards, and store profitability.
• Manage labor scheduling in UKG to align with peak business times (TCG launch days, tournament nights, weekends).
• Operational Excellence
• Strong grasp of merchandising (promo tables, TCG product launches, collector cases).
• Accurate handling of trades, cash, and compliance processes.

CUSTOMER SERVICE & SELLING SKILLS

• GAME Selling Behaviors
• Greet, Ask, Make Suggestion, Explain: Use consultative selling to connect customers to TCG, video games, collectibles, and accessories.
• Build relationships with customers who shop for Pokémon, MTG, and other collectibles.
• Conflict Resolution & Problem Solving
• Handle escalations around TCG shortages, preorder allocations, or trade disputes with professionalism.
• De-escalate tense situations and turn issues into positive experiences.
• Event Hosting & Community Engagement
• Run in-store Pokémon/TCG tournaments or community play nights.
• Partner with regional/national TCG leagues if possible to increase traffic and loyalty.
• Create a welcoming environment where customers feel ownership in the store community.

SPECIALIZED TCG/COLLECTIBLES KNOWLEDGE

• Product Knowledge & Expertise
• Understand Pokémon set releases, rarity tiers, sealed vs singles, and what drives demand.
• Recognize counterfeit cards, condition grading basics, and how value fluctuates in the TCG market.
• Knowledge of Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and emerging TCGs helps broaden customer engagement.
• Community-Building Skills
• Organize and promote in-store TCG nights, launch parties, and tournaments.
• Build partnerships with local schools, hobby clubs, and online communities.
• Use social media (local store Instagram/Facebook groups) to drive awareness of events.
• Collector’s Mindset
• Understand the collector’s journey — from casual Pokémon fans to hardcore competitive players.
• Anticipate what drives both nostalgia buyers and competitive players.

  Pay: $15.00 - $18.75 per hour
