Description Part-time Assistant Teacher/Aide - Float Vivie Location $16–$19/hour Monday–Friday | 12:00 PM – 5:30 PM Love laughter, learning, and little high-fives? Under the guidance of the Child Care Director, this individual will support the infant and toddler classrooms. They will carry out developmentally appropriate activities for a designated group of children and provide assistance to the Lead Teacher as needed. Responsibilities and Duties include: Assist the Lead Teacher, Child Care Director and Coordinators when necessary with duties as assigned. Communicate respectfully and professionally with parents/guardians regarding child's development. Guide children's behaviors using appropriate child guidance methods. Support the Lead Teacher in evaluation and maintaining records on children's progress using formal and informal assessment tools. Take responsibility for classroom tidiness, equipment and materials. In the absence of the Lead Teacher, be responsible for guiding children's activities as assigned and assign tasks for the classroom aide. Requirements Be committed to the mission and goals of the YMCA and Child Care Center. Must meet DHS Rule 3 Assistant Teacher qualifications. Required to have some level of post-secondary education, preferably in early childhood, and/or some experience in licensed early childhood facilities. Must complete and have a non-disqualified background study record. Must be certified in CPR and First Aid with Blood borne Pathogens, or obtain within the first 90 days of employment. Proof completion of SIDS, Abusive Head Trauma, Child Abuse Prevention and Reporting before interaction with children. Must take CACFP food program training and YMCA 101 within the first 90 days of employment. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be in good physical, mental, and emotional health and may be required to lift children and light equipment (5-50lb). Must be in constant awareness of the children’s safety, ensuring that activities follow rules and regulations which limit risk to the participants. Required to speak and hear. Required to reach with and use hands and arms. Must be able to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must dress appropriately for the weather as both indoor and outdoor activities are scheduled.
