St. Matt’s is a charitable not-for-profit multi-service agency. Services include emergency food, crisis intervention and outreach to seniors and vulnerable persons to support independent living.
Clients include persons with limited or no income, persons living in poor health or with chronic conditions, persons of all ages and newcomers.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR INDIVIDUALS WHO POSSESS THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS AND KNOWLEDGE:

• Experience in a childcare or school age program, working with children between the ages of 3.8 and 12 years
• Early Childhood Education Diploma (ECE)
• Related experience in a childcare setting
• Member in good standing with College of ECE’s required
• Valid Standard First Aid and Child/Infant CPR Certificate
• Demonstrated knowledge of “How Does Learning Happen?”
• Experience in program planning and implementation for children
• Demonstrated ability to support the social/emotional development of children
• Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work split shifts.
• Access to reliable transportation

Duties

• Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate before and after school program for kindergarten children, by providing materials and equipment that foster their natural sense of curiosity and wonder
• Document children’s learning through photographs and text, making learning visible to others.
• Support healthy growth and development by organization a variety of activities/experiences both indoors and on the playground
• Foster children’s interests; ensure the equipment offered meets the development needs of this age group
• Encourage the development of social/emotional skills by offering support in the problem-solving process
• Encourage children’s independence in all aspects of the program
• Maintain appropriate written documentation in accordance with St. Matt’s Childcare policies and procedures, and Ministry of Education requirements
