JOB SUMMARY

Supporting individuals in all aspects of daily living while working as a part of an inter-professional team including an ABA lead and Behavioural Services Consultant to directly implement all aspects of the behavioural intervention/support plan. A strong emphasis is placed on building capacity to function in the community.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary education with a focus in the area of Social Services.
  • Preference is given to graduates of a Behavioural Science Technology degree or diploma program.
  • At least one year experience is required using Applied Behaviour Analysis to support individuals with complex needs in a residential environment.
  • Successful completion of internal legislated and mandated training is required including Safe Management Group (SMG).
  • Driver’s license is an asset.

Responsibilities

Under the general supervision of a program supervisor, this position is responsible for:

  • In collaboration with the ABA lead, develop written programs that aid in the acquisition of life skills.
  • Identifying program needs of individuals supported, participating in the development and implementation of life plans, assisting in monitoring achievement of personal outcomes.
  • Providing case management to individuals on caseload, providing appropriate personal and physical care including medication administration, crisis response, advocating on behalf of individuals supported and liaising with family, medical and other professions and other service providers to address needs.
  • Provide emotional support to individuals supported on a one-on-one or group basis and referring to professions when necessary.
  • Maintaining documentation (including various types of behavioural data and skill acquisition data), monitoring finances and ensuring an appropriate standard of living
  • Providing direction to part-time staff as required.
  • Provide feedback to ABA lead regarding specific areas of program implementation.
