Bodega Henriette is a small, tight knit, neighbourhood restaurant, serving from-scratch breakfast and lunch 7 days a week. We insist on providing easy-going, but knowledgeable and attentive service in tandem with consistently excellent food and drinks; constantly striving to improve ourselves.
We are looking for a experienced and strong Brunch Line Cook 2-3 days/week to to round out our kitchen team.
Saturday AND Sunday (7:00am -5:00pm) availability is required
The flexibility to cover other days for illness or holidays would be wonderful.
We are a very small team where each individual is expected to work collaboratively with the rest of our team to get things done. The right candidate is someone who is kind, self-motivated, takes great pride in their work, can time manage effectively and is focused and organized.

Requirements:

  • Strong brunch line cooking skills with the ability to handle high volume unassisted (minimum 2 years experience)
  • Highly proficient cooking on a flat top, poaching eggs and making hollandaise
  • Strong technical cooking knowledge and skills required to prepare recipes to spec
  • Culinary diploma is an asset
  • Food safety certification is required
  • Self-driven, motivated, attention to detail, critical thinker, does not require supervising to fulfill daily tasks
  • Kind, empathetic, reliable, strong decision making skills, communication and conflict resolution skills

Duties

  • Light prep: mise and following recipes to make sauces, prepare fruits and vegetables, proteins, eggs, grains etc. in a timely manner
  • Receiving orders and inspecting them to ensure quality, quantity and accuracy and putting away orders to ensure organization, food safety and rotation
  • Preparing meals on the line and plating in accordance with restaurant standards for quality, timeliness, presentation and portioning
  • Ensuring that the line is prepared for service, flipping the line at close and ensuring that there is sufficient product available for the next service
  • Ensuring that food safety standards and practices are maintained at all times
  • Ensuring that the kitchen is clean and compliant with health department standards
  • Cover shifts for illness/emergencies/vacations

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $22.00-$24.00 per hour based on experience
Expected hours: 20-28 per week
Additional pay:
Tips on average are $5/hour paid in cash
