VCFHS is a charity that promotes good food for all. We operate programs that alleviate poverty and build food security while strengthening the local food economy. One of our major initiatives is the South Island FarmHub. This is a social venture established in 2020 to aggregate and distribute local produce and value-added goods in the CRD and distribute fresh healthy foods to local charities. We have grown to support over 80 farms and food producers by picking up their produce, repacking it at our warehouse, and distributing orders to local charities, school programs, restaurants and home customers.

JOB DESCRIPTION: PART-TIME (TUESDAYS) AND CASUAL DELIVERY DRIVER

South Island FarmHub is looking for a casual Delivery Driver to join our team based in Esquimalt and connect our community to healthy, local food. You will be responsible for packing & fulfilling orders, delivery driving. You will be trained on the fulfillment capacities inherent in the delivery system, then deliver the outgoing customer orders. Requires afternoon shifts delivery driving around the region in a Sprinter van.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Valid Class 5 BC driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Minimum 1 year experience driving larger delivery vehicles, such as a Mercedes Sprinter van required
• Experience with delivery of food or farm products an asset
• Comfortable driving around the Greater Victoria area in all types of weather and traffic conditions
• Ability to adhere to assigned routes, schedules, safety procedures and transportation laws
• Ability to work independently and follow detailed instructions
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational and time management skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills, a collaborative team player
• Flexible and adaptable

• Safely load, transport and deliver orders to customers, charities and businesses in a timely and professional manner
• Follow delivery route directions, instructions and customer notes from software through phone
• Finalize orders with last items into bins before departure from the Viewfield Warehouse
• Pick up and return empty bins and thermal wraps from customers
• Occasional driving to receive farm orders from our suppliers and farmers (additional hours provided)
• Reliably follow lock up procedures in a secure warehouse facility
• Provide excellent customer service during delivery and answer on the spot questions from customers, while positively representing the FarmHub values
