JOB DESCRIPTION:

In-Person: This position requires on-site presence and is not subject to hybrid work.
Note: These are part-time, casual, temporary Support positions (Up to 24 hours per week) starting September 2025 and ending December 2025 .
Hours: Hours are scheduled Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4-year degree in Math or Science (particularly Chemistry, Physics, or Engineering)
  • Knowledge of Chemistry and Physics
  • One year of related experience working in a tutorial or educational setting
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with a wide variety of cultural communication styles
  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to problem-solve
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills

EDUCATIONAL CREDENTIALS

While transcripts are not required for the interview, they are mandatory as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

Provides math and science support in the Library Learning Commons to students who are enrolled in any College Math and Science courses. Includes appointments, drop-ins, and referrals. Main areas of focus include calculus, math for engineering, chemistry, physics, and statistics. When meeting with students, the incumbent works with the student to identify problem areas, determine the best approach(es) to addressing problem areas, reviews correct math/science principles, procedures, and/or methods and provides students with appropriate resources to assist with academic success.
Additionally, provides general assistance to students at the LLC desk using resources available online and in print.
