THE AVALON ACADEMY
The Avalon Academy is a small independent Non-Public School dedicated to providing exceptional educational and therapeutic services to children with movement disorders such as cerebral palsy.
POSITION SUMMARY
We are looking for a CFO to join our nonprofit organization in a part time position (10 hours/week) to manage all financial aspects of the school, including budgets, cash flow planning, benefits, insurance, treasury and audit activities.
To be successful in this role, you should have in-depth knowledge of risk management methods and the ability to create forecasting models.
Ultimately, you will ensure we manage our resources in the most beneficial way and help maximize our funding.
The position will report to the Executive Director.
REQUIREMENTS
· BSc or MSc in Finance, Accounting or relevant field
· Proven work experience as a CFO, preferably in a nonprofit organization
· Excellent knowledge of data analysis, risk management and forecasting methods
· Hands-on experience with accounting and financial management software
· Expertise in the full Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce, QuickBooks and other typical time/attendance, payroll and financial tracking programs
· Analytical skills
· Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
· Ability to explain financial terms in simple language
· Genuine interest in our mission
·In partnership with the Executive Director, safeguard the viability of the school and help to translate its mission and vision into financially sound action
·Oversee cash flow management
·Develop and monitor budgets
·Ensure all financial operations and reporting comply with federal and state laws
·Present monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements to the Executive Director and Board of Directors
·Coordinate independent audit activities
·Work with insurance brokers and advisors to ensure that adequate, appropriate and cost effective insurance is in force
·Supervise the accounting department and Operations Director and activities involving payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash, donations, general ledger, purchasing, employee benefit administration, taxes and other accounting systems
·Process and monitor all income related to tuition, fees, Extended School Year, and Avalon Therapies
·Oversee all school purchasing and banking activities
·Monitor all loans and indebtedness
·Attend board meetings as required
