OVERVIEW

Near Howe Cottages is a family-run holiday accommodation nestled in the heart of the Lake District near Mungrisdale. We’re looking for a reliable and enthusiastic individual to join our small team as a Part-Time Cleaner & Alpaca Care Assistant. The role is for around 15 hours a week, across Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
This unique role combines high-standard cottage cleaning with caring for our friendly herd of alpacas. Ideal for someone who enjoys variety, being outdoors, and working with animals.

Responsibilities: Cleaning Duties

• Working as a team to clean and prepare self-catering holiday cottages to a high standard
• Change bedding, clean bathrooms, kitchens, and living areas
• Replenish guest supplies and report any maintenance issues
• Ensure cottages are presented clean, fresh, and guest-ready

Responsibilities: Alpaca Care

• Assist in feeding, checking, and caring for our alpacas
• Clean and maintain the alpacas’ living areas (shed and field)
• Support basic health checks (training provided)
• Help with training and handling the alpacas

REQUIREMENTS

• Previous cleaning or housekeeping experience preferred (training provided)
• Must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
• Physically fit – role involves bending, lifting, and walking on uneven ground
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
• Friendly, positive attitude and good attention to detail
• Must have own transport due to rural location
• Must be able to work Mondays and Fridays 9:30am-2:30pm as these are our key changeover days
• Must be able to work in a team
