We are looking for a cleaner and lunch cover assistant to work at our nursery. This is the perfect role for someone who has children at school as the hours can be flexible between 10.30am and 3pm each day during term time.
The role will be to clean the communal areas and facilities around the nursery, assist with laundry and to cover nursery staff lunches between 12 noon and 2pm looking after children in various age group rooms. Working closely with our cook and duties will involve cleaning, serving food and general food preparation.
To qualify you must have a current DBS, a childcare qualification would also be desireable and you should possess a Basic Food Hygiene and Health & Safety qualification or be willing to complete these.
This role is contracted to 38 weeks per year:

SUMMARY

We are seeking a Cleaner to join our team at The Cedars Nursery in Newcastle. This role is vital in maintaining a clean and safe environment for our children, ensuring that our facilities meet the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform thorough cleaning of all nursery areas, including classrooms, restrooms, and common spaces.
• Ensure that all cleaning supplies are stocked and maintained.
• Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe environment for children and staff.
• Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to management.
• Assist with the setup and breakdown of special events as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness of outdoor areas used by children.
• Collaborate with staff to ensure the nursery is always presentable for parents and visitors.
• Participate in regular training sessions to stay updated on cleaning best practices.
• Qualifications
• Proven experience in commercial cleaning or janitorial roles.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to cleaning practices.
• Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
