Job Description
The Compliance Analyst supports all aspects of the risk and compliance functions for the Credit Union, assisting with the preparation and management of compliance reports, systems, and controls. Focused on Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and fraud prevention, this role involves reviewing reports, monitoring member and business relationship transactions, and staying updated on regulatory and industry requirements. The Compliance Analyst plays a key role in investigating and resolving fraud alerts, ensuring compliance with AML laws, and supporting the Credit Union’s broader risk management strategy.
DIFFERENTIATING ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Compliance
- Assist with fulfilling data requirements for periodic reviews by FSRA and FINTRAC.
- Support the Director, Risk and Compliance with compliance-related inquiries from staff.
- Recommend process improvements and solutions to prevent recurring compliance issues.
- Anti-Money Laundering (AML)
- Review and ensure the timely submission of Large Cash Transaction and Electronic Fund Transfer Reports to FINTRAC.
- Review the Unusual Transaction Reports submitted by branches and recommend filing Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) when necessary.
- Respond promptly to all requests for information from the AML provider.
- Monitor changes in regulatory requirements and recommend updates.
- Ensure AML monitoring solutions are configured to appropriately risk-rate members/business relationships and monitor their activities.
- Routinely review alerts and investigate transactions, collecting necessary information from branches as required.
- Manual data entry of LCTR/EFTR and STR information, as well as missing STR data.
- Other Responsibilities
- Act as a back-up for various risk, compliance & audit functions as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Post-secondary education in Finance or a related field, or equivalent experience in a business/finance environment
- At least one year of experience working with FINTRAC compliance
- Knowledge of financial accounting is an asset
- Financial services experience is an asset
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, including approachability, trustworthiness, flexibility, and a strong work ethic
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment with strong communication, time management, and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Proven ability to manage and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Proficient in the use of technology to enhance productivity
- Committed to continuous personal improvement and ongoing learning
Estimated hours per week: 20-30
Target Hourly Rate: $31.30
Salary will be determined based on skills, experience, education and other qualifications relevant to this position
