We are now looking for a suitable person to fill the following position in the Information Technology Office: Major Duties and Responsibilities The appointee will provide frontline IT and audio-visual support to teaching staff and students of the University, with a primary focus on classroom support and computer laboratory operations. The appointee will be responsible mainly for the following: Providing timely technical support to teaching staff and students in the use of classroom AV and IT equipment, including computers, projectors, display systems, microphones, control panels and related teaching technologies; and Assisting in the daily operation, maintenance and support of computer laboratories, teaching venues and other learning facilities, including basic hardware, software and peripheral support. Classroom, User and Frontline Support Handling user enquiries at the service counter, by phone or on site, and provide prompt technical assistance to minimise disruption to teaching and learning activities; Providing professional, courteous and customer-focused IT and AV support to teaching staff and students using University classrooms, lecture theatres, laboratories and other learning spaces; and Assisting users with basic troubleshooting of classroom computers, AV control systems, display equipment, audio systems, network connectivity and commonly used teaching software. Computer Laboratory and Software Support Assisting IT Officers and technicians in the installation, configuration, maintenance and administration of computer hardware, software and peripherals in computer laboratories and teaching venues; Supporting routine software updates, security patches, image deployments and basic system check on campus computers under the guidance of full-time IT staff; and Reporting hardware faults, software issues and service incidents accurately, and follow up with relevant IT teams where necessary. Facilities Management and Quality Assurance Conducting routine patrols and inspections of computer laboratories, classrooms and learning spaces to ensure that IT and AV facilities are functioning properly and ready for use; Monitoring the condition of equipment and the learning environment, and promptly report equipment faults, safety concerns or irregularities to the supervisor or relevant support team; Assisting in keeping classrooms, teaching venues and computer laboratories tidy and orderly after use, including basic arrangement of IT/AV equipment, furniture and related learning facilities where appropriate; and Supporting the monitoring and replenishment of consumables, including paper, toner and stationery supplies at designated printing or service areas. Team Collaboration and Operations Working closely with other members of the Information Technology Office to support daily operations, service requests, incident handling and ongoing IT tasks; Maintaining proper records of support activities, issues reported and follow-up actions where required; and Performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor to support the operational needs of the University. The normal working hours will be arranged between 8:30 a.m. and 9:00 p.m., subject to operational needs. The total working hours will not exceed 17 hours per week. Appointees may be required to work across different campuses in the University. Candidates Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competence: At least five subjects with Level 2 or above in HKDSE, or equivalent, including English Language, Chinese Language and Mathematics; Possession of a certificate or relevant training in computer software, computer hardware, information technology or audio-visual support will be an advantage; Relevant experience in operating AV equipment, classroom technologies and networked personal computers is preferred; Good communication skills, a responsible work attitude and a strong sense of customer service; and Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a university service environment.
