SUMMARY STATEMENT: To support people who have an intellectual disability to achieve their personal goals and facilitate relationships, skills and roles which promote people’s effective participation in the typical and valued life of the community POSITION: SUPPORT WORKER PART TIME POSITION REPORTING TO: Community Living Supports Manager HOURS: Part Time Hours - Days, Evenings, Overnights, Weekends and Holidays HOURLY RATE: $19.10 - $23.49 QUALIFICATIONS: DSW or equivalent, preferably with a minimum of two years experience working with people who have an intellectual disability Ability to support behavioral needs and protocols Ability to support complex medical needs i.e. G-tube and tracheotomy care Previous experience supporting people who have mental health issues and dealing with high anxiety situations Solid understanding of the principals of CPI and experience with verbal de-escalation Ability to work independently and as a team member Strong organizational and interpersonal skills Current First Aid, CPR and Non-violent Crisis Intervention certificates Training in dispensing medications Valid G driver’s license, insurance and reliable vehicle Current Vulnerable Sector Screening (within 6 months) Community Living Central York is an equal opportunity employer which welcomes and encourages applications from people with disabilities.
