The Role We’re looking for a part time Finance Manager to join us in what will be our first dedicated finance role. This is a pivotal position as we enter our next phase of growth. As an owner led business experiencing rapid expansion, you’ll play a key role in building structure, clarity, and confidence across all areas of finance. Monitor performance against budget, provide variance analysis, and advise the board on financial direction. Produce monthly management accounts, P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow forecasts. Support strategic decision-making with data-driven financial insights, including customer and stock trends. Identify risks, opportunities, and efficiencies to drive profitability. Cash Flow & Treasury Management Manage day-to-day cash flow and bank relationships. Forecast short- and long-term cash requirements to ensure liquidity. Oversee payments, receipts, and working capital management (stock, payables, receivables). Implement and monitor credit control processes. Financial Controls & Compliance Maintain strong internal financial controls and ensure accurate, compliant reporting. Oversee reconciliation of balance sheet accounts including stock and bank. Ensure compliance with HMRC, VAT, PAYE, and other statutory requirements. Liaise with external accountants and auditors for annual accounts, filings, and audits. Reporting Prepare and present monthly and quarterly financial reports. Provide financial insights for investor updates, funding discussions, and business planning. Deliver accurate and timely management information for key stakeholders. Cost Management & Procurement Oversight Analyse operating costs and recommend cost-saving initiatives. Work with operations and sales/marketing teams to optimise supplier terms and margins. Review stock purchasing cycles and pricing strategies to align with cash flow plans. Systems & Process Improvement Streamline and automate financial processes to improve efficiency and accuracy. Implement or manage accounting systems (currently Xero). Ensure data integrity between finance, Shopify, and MintSoft. Strategic & Commercial Support Partner with the CEO and Operations Director on business growth planning, funding, and new ventures. Model the financial impact of new projects, including stores and partnerships. Support contract negotiations and relationships with key suppliers. Leadership & Collaboration Communicate complex financial information clearly and actionably to non-finance colleagues. Foster a culture of financial understanding across the business. What You’ll Bring to the Role Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA). Experience in finance management, ideally in retail, e-commerce, or consumer goods. Experience in a stock-holding business is essential. Familiarity with Shopify is advantageous. Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills. Ability to present financial data and insights in a clear, accessible way to non-finance stakeholders.
