USHER REPORTS TO: FRONT OF HOUSE MANAGER LOCATION:  DOWNTOWN TORONTO  VACANCY STATUS:  THIS POSTING IS FOR A CURRENT VACANCY ON OUR TEAM ABOUT US  The Corporation of Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall is a registered charity that operates two of Toronto’s most iconic venues: Roy Thomson Hall and Allied Music Centre—home to legendary Massey Hall, TD Music Hall, Allied Music Centre Theatre, Deane Cameron Recording Studio, and more. Guided by a professional management team and volunteer Board of Governors, the Corporation is dedicated to enriching communities through the cultural, social, and economic power of music. The Corporation is actively engaged in Artist Development and Education & Community Engagement initiatives as an investment in the next generation of artists and audiences. POSITION OVERVIEW We are currently looking for part-time Ushers to join our Front of House Team. As the first point of contact for patrons of the Halls, Ushers play an important role in delivering exceptional customer service and an elevated patron experience. The ideal candidate is approachable, and adept at addressing issues and/or special requests. Our Front of House team receives comprehensive training in operational and safety protocols for both halls.  Key Responsibilities: * Provide quality customer service to guests including but not limited to greeting guests by name, identifying any needs that they may have and seeing to them  * Proactively maintain current knowledge of upcoming events, and services/facilities available at the Halls and surrounding areas to be able to expertly respond to guest’s questions * Directs patrons to their sections, seats, and washrooms * Assists patrons with special needs and if necessary, escalate to supervisors/management  * Monitors assigned section throughout performances to ensure patron enjoyment and identify any potential issues * Communicates house policies in a diplomatic fashion with respect to late calls, cameras and recording devices * Resolves patron concerns/issues independently and defers to Floor Captain, Supervisor or Security as required * Ensures cleanliness and readiness of assigned section and report any deficiencies to Supervisor/ Captain * Provides crowd control for patron lines, artist signings, catering events and keeping access routes clear * Always maintains a professional demeanor * Other duties as assigned Requirements: * Dedication to exceptional customer service and strong communication skills * Available to work flexible schedule, including afternoons, evenings and weekends  * Ability and willingness to strive for excellence and superior customer service * Ability to stand for a minimum of three (3) hours * Smart Service Certificate required * Previous ushering and/or customer service experience is an asset   Core Competencies  * Attendance & Reliability * Communication & Professionalism * Customer Service Excellence * Initiative & Adaptability * Safety & Compliance * Teamwork & Collaboration Work Conditions * Public-facing role in a fast-paced live event environment with high patron volume. * Prolonged standing and walking throughout multi-level venues, including stairs, aisles, and lobbies, for extended periods. * Requires clear, calm communication in crowded and sometimes noisy conditions. * Ability to respond quickly to changing circumstances and patron needs, including accessibility requests. * Comfort providing direction and enforcing house policies respectfully, including addressing concerns as they arise. * Flexible availability required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules.
