Are you extroverted bookkeeper type? We are seeking a tenacious, detail-oriented, highly accountable Part-Time Government Refund Clerk to join our team. This role is responsible for following up to confirm and obtain tax refunds our clients are due from government bodies when we successfully conclude a case. The position requires an outgoing self-starter type personality. The ideal candidate will be a curious, persistent and problem-solver. The position offers a high degree of flexibility after training in the office, with one day per week in our Blawnox, PA office and the balance of hours remote. Calculate tax refunds Follow up with government taxing bodies for timely issue of refunds Perfectly reconcile tax refunds issued against client records as to what refunds are due Build and maintain constructive relationships with governmental agencies Demonstrate excellent communication, problem-solving, and listening skills Provide customer service regarding refund status issues Manage multiple tasks, files, and information in an organized and efficient manner Under supervision of attorney, contact both government bodies (tax collectors, tax claim directors) and clients by phone and email as needed to ensure payment of outstanding refunds Perform administrative and clerical tasks such as data entry, sending reminders, uploading documents, and contacting stakeholders to discuss refund and account statuses Keep attorneys and AR Department apprised of status of refund collection process and any ongoing issues Work collaboratively with accounting department to ensure accuracy in finances Generate and deliver reports as required Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent 1+ years of experience in bookkeeping preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Excel along with Outlook and Teams preferred. Ability to prepare Excel spreadsheets to mathematically calculate and reconcile amounts to the penny Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Excellent communication and customer service skills Ability to work independently and manage time effectively Professional who can build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders which will include government taxing authorities, clients, attorneys, and other internal staff
Responsibilities
The clerk is responsible for calculating and reconciling tax refunds while maintaining communication with government agencies and clients. They will manage administrative tasks, update account statuses, and provide reports to the legal and accounting departments.
