Description Job Title: Part-Time School Health Aide Middle/High Job Classification: Classified Reports to: District Nurse Work Schedule: Academic Calendar (5 days before school & 5 days after school) School hours TBD General Description: The Health Aide will assist the Career Academy Network of Public Schools by maintaining order and organization in the school clinic, entering documentation both on computer and in student files, assisting with care of students and communicating with staff and families by phone, in writing, or in person as needed. Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED CPR Certified Proficiency in Windows Operating System as well as Microsoft Office applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) Proficiency in using standard office equipment effectively Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing Primary Responsibilities: Maintain documentation of all clinic visits Maintain health related records such as immunizations, screenings, dispensing of medication, and other areas as needed Always maintain student confidentiality Receive and effectively respond to students, staff, parents and community to meet health related needs Maintain a sanitary environment in the clinic Dispense medications as directed by the district nurse and in accordance with School Health Services procedures Effectively identify students with illness or injury, level of care required, and execute where appropriate. Provide general first aid for students and staff. Inform staff of students’ pertinent health concerns. Maintain documentation of health-related accidents/incidents. May be required to travel to more than one location within the Network. School Activities: All staff may be required to attend and/or participate in such other activities as directed by the Administrator such as: faculty meetings (before or after school hours), open houses, commencement exercises, summer school, chaperone student activities, provide guidance for students, participate on faculty committees, study and help resolve school problems. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.
