Walnut Hill School for the Arts seeks a part-time faculty member to join the Humanities department to teach one section of Gender, Culture, and Power for the remainder of the second semester of the 2025-2026 academic year starting in late February 2026 and ending in early June 2026. This is a part-time position reporting to the Head of Humanities.  History 12: Gender, Culture, & Power What is gender, and how does it shape culture, history, and power structures? How does gender influence the stories we remember and the narratives we tell? This course works backward in time, exploring the histories of feminist and LGBTQ movements in the United States and the gendered and queer histories that underpin those movements. Students will also analyze questions of gender in media, art, and mythology, culminating in an exploration of how feminist and queer reinterpretations can reshape cultural narratives. Compensation: $7,000.00  Teaching & Department Duties * Teach one (1) section of History (Gender, Culture, & Power) in the Humanities department; utilize best practices in teaching within this academic discipline;  * Deliver lessons and develop curriculum that reflects the diverse educational and cultural backgrounds of the student body; teach, lead, and guide students and promote an open and safe classroom space; * Utilize the learning management system (LMS) to facilitate communication across the school community; take and record attendance, and maintain Class Pages for each academic class; maintain grades, comments, and progress reports as required and as needed;  * Keep records of correspondence with parents, progress of advisees, records of teaching practice and student work and utilize the LMS appropriately to communicate student issues; participate in parent/teacher conferences; and  * Utilize technology and other educational tools to support student learning. Collaboration & Community Engagement * Support the Student Life program by participating in various opportunities for community involvement that arise throughout the school year as appropriate; attend and/or engage in student arts productions, shows, exhibitions, and performances when able; * Work collaboratively with colleagues across all departments to foster a positive working and educational environment that supports the School’s mission, vision, and core values; * When able and as appropriate, attend and participate in applicable department meetings, assembly, Professional Development days, training and orientation programs, benefit meetings, mandatory seminars, team-building exercises, and safety training; and * Display willingness and ability to grow, learn, explore new approaches, and practice self-reflection. Skills and Qualifications * 2+ years teaching or equivalent experience; experience working with high school students a plus;  * Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience required, Master’s degree recommended; * Wide repertoire of teaching skills that suits a variety of learning styles; * Comfort with technology and willingness to adopt new technologies as needed;  * Innovative teaching practices and a focus on student-centered learning; * Strong collaboration and team-oriented working and leadership skills; * Possess cultural competence in working with diverse populations; demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive community; * Share an educational and artistic vision that aligns with the core principles of Walnut Hill; and * Ability to balance a pursuit of academic, artistic, and institutional excellence with compassion and nurture for each individual.
