POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are currently seeking experienced Industrial Design professionals to join MentorX as part-time, paid mentors. This remote and flexible role involves providing tailored one-on-one guidance to students pursuing careers in product design, user-centered design, and related creative industries.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Professional experience in industrial design, product design, UX/UI, or design engineering.
  • Strong bilingual communication skills in English and Mandarin Chinese.
  • Proficiency in design software and tools commonly used in the industry.
  • Passion for mentorship and helping students grow personally and professionally.
  • Prior teaching, mentoring, or leadership experience is a strong plus.
  • Availability for remote, part-time mentorship with flexible scheduling.

Responsibilities
  • Offer personalized career coaching to students in industrial design, product design, interaction design, or related fields.
  • Provide support with resume/CV and portfolio review, interview preparation, professional skill-building, and gap analysis.
  • Help students strengthen their design thinking, prototyping, technical presentation, and communication skills for real-world success.
  • Share insights into industry workflows, tools (such as Adobe Creative Suite, Rhino, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, etc.), and hiring trends in the design world.
  • Communicate effectively in both English and Mandarin Chinese to support bilingual learners.
  • Offer flexible, online mentorship sessions tailored to individual student needs and career objectives.
