JOB SUMMARY

Middle Georgia State University (MGA) invites applications for a part-time instructor of communication to join our growing and student-centered media and communication program. The successful candidate will teach human communication, public speaking, or other introductory courses to support the bachelor’s degree in media and communication.

REQUIRED EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Master¿s degree in communication or a related field such as public relations, journalism, advertising, or marketing

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Experience in teaching online and on-ground courses

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Demonstrated success in teaching college courses
Strong communication and collaborative skills

PREFERRED EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Doctoral degree in communication or a related field such as public relations, journalism, advertising, or marketing

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

Experience teaching human communication courses
Experience teaching strategic communication concepts such as public relations, mass communication and social media
Significant public speaking experience

Responsibilities
  • Teaching courses as needed to support the media and communication bachelor¿s degree
  • Providing quality instruction in human communication and public speaking courses
  • Recruiting undecided majors through Core IMPACTS courses
  • Presenting MCA programs as attractive disciplines to dual-enrolled students
  • Attending occasional departmental events
