CHURCH PROFILE

Calgary Truth Baptist Church, in northwest Calgary, Alberta, is a bilingual Christ-centered community representing multi-generations of predominantly Chinese background. The English congregation, ROOTS, is made up of members from Grade 8 and up and is guided by a board of elders. The Mandarin congregation is shepherded by one part-time pastor and a board of elders. The children’s Sunday school program is led by the Mandarin congregation.
After 5 years of faithful ministry, our beloved pastor is following the call to take care of his elderly parents in China. We are prayerfully seeking a man of God’s choosing to shepherd and lead our congregation into the next chapter.
Approximately 185 consider Calgary Truth Baptist Church their spiritual home, including 18 active ROOTS members and 167 active Mandarin members. The average weekly attendance for the English and Mandarin congregations is 35 and 150, respectively. Our facility is graciously rented to us by Alberta Bible College with space for Sunday school classes and fellowship on Sundays, a dedicated chapel, kitchen, breakout rooms, and a big room for worship.

INTERIM PASTOR QUALIFICATIONS

The qualifications for the Interim Pastor shall be consistent with those listed in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9.

• To live a life of private and public integrity before his family and congregation.
• A committed Christian leader and partner of the Elders.
• At a minimum, a bachelor’s degree in Biblical studies or theology.
• Previous experience in a pastoral role. Including teaching, preaching, and managing staff.
• Must be an effective communicator and approachable.
• Able to provide pastoral care to a congregation of various ages.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Responsibilities fall into the following areas:
• Preaching two times per month during four-Sunday months, and three times per month during five-Sunday months.
• Leading communion once a month.
• Teaching baptism preparation classes for Roots participants.
• Planning and coordinating the Sunday preaching schedule, including their own preaching assignments and arranging for guest or alternate preachers as needed.
• Forming Godly vision and guiding ROOTS English Congregation to grow and fulfill its purposes.
• He shall lead and equip ROOTS and all its leaders to fulfill its values and practices.
• The interim pastor will have scriptural mentoring relationships with the Elders and church leadership. He will also be encouraged to have a mentor to support and strengthen his ministry at ROOTS.
• The interim pastor shall be an ex-officio member of all ongoing teams except the Pastor Search Team.
