We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary team and support the food service activities at BrightStone. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting meal preparation and ensuring the kitchen operates smoothly.

SKILLS

  • Knowledge of kitchen operations and culinary techniques helpful
  • Familiarity with meal preparation processes, including food handling and safety practices
  • Ability to work efficiently in a team-oriented environment while maintaining attention to detail and capable of multi-tasking
  • Strong organizational skills to keep the kitchen running smoothly during busy service periods
  • Basic knife skills for food preparation tasks are highly desirable
  • Able to operate kitchen appliances such as commercial oven, food processor and dishwasher
  • Able to lift 40 pounds
  • Able to stand for long periods of time
  • A desire to work with adults who have different abilities
  • Previous experience in food service or catering is a plus but not required; we welcome those eager to learn!

Responsibilities
  • Assist in meal preparation by chopping, slicing, and dicing ingredients using proper knife techniques
  • Support chef in the kitchen by preparing ingredients and maintaining an organized workspace
  • Ensure all food handling practices comply with food safety regulations to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment
  • Help with preparing dishes according to specified menus and strict dietary needs and requirements
  • Assist with service during morning snack and drink cart for students
  • Clean kitchen equipment, utensils, work areas, and dining room to uphold hygiene standards
  • Assist in inventory management by tracking supplies and notifying chef of low stock levels
