POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The University of Louisville seeks a Part-Time Lecturer as a Suzuki Teacher Trainer for a one-year part-time position.
This position consists of overseeing UofL’s long-term teacher training program in Suzuki Cello Pedagogy. The Teacher Trainer will teach seminar courses that cover the Suzuki Every Child Can course and Suzuki Books 1-10, which are taught over a two-year period. The courses should cover the teaching points and technical development of a young violin student from a pre-playing stage through the level of Mozart violin concerto. Additional topics include the psychology of teaching and development of lesson plans for pre-school through high school-aged students. The Teacher Trainer will ensure that sufficient opportunities for required observation of individual and group lesson are possible. The instructor will communicate as needed with the Suzuki Association of the Americas and handle registration of all book levels covered in the Seminar classes. Work begins for this position in Academic Year 2026-2026 with a targeted start date in August 2025.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Thorough knowledge of Suzuki teaching principles and methods as well as other methods and teaching philosophies

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in music
  • Registered Teacher Trainer with the Suzuki Association of the Americas
