Description

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The College of Arts & Sciences invites applications for Part-Time Lecturer (PTL) instructors for GEN 100: Student Success Center FYE and GEN 101: Arts & Sciences FYE for the 2025-2026 Academic Year. These courses are 1 credit hour and held the first half of the semester. This position allows instructors to have direct contact with incoming students, grow in their facilitation and classroom management skills, and foster connections with others across the University community. We are looking for individuals who want to positively impact the lives of our students and support student success.
Course topics may include college technology, time management, campus resources, success strategies, major and career exploration, personality types, career values, academic planning, involvement, and more. Sample course syllabi, lesson plans, presentations, activities, Blackboard shells, and other resources will be provided, but instructors are encouraged to adapt materials to fit their style. PTLs will be supported throughout the experience, including a required training before the semester begins, a required debrief at the end of the course, occasional individual meetings with the FYE coordinator, and optional weekly instructor support meetings.
The majority of the course sessions are in-person on Belknap Campus, but some asynchronous online sections may be available.
Instructors are expected to utilize Blackboard to submit a finalized course syllabus, provide developmentally meaningful feedback, present engaging learning experiences, respond to students in a timely manner, communicate regularly with FYE coordinator, submit final grades within university deadlines, and comply with university requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s degree or 18+ hours of graduate coursework completed from an accredited institution. (Note: Candidates whose highest degree is a bachelor’s can be considered if they have substantial relevant experience or student contact as part of their primary responsibilities.)
Please submit resume/CV, graduate college transcripts, and a cover letter. Your cover letter should address the reason for your interest, fit for working with first-year students, and any relevant teaching or facilitation experience.
Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until positions are filled.
