Description JOB SUMMARY: Part Time Litter Officer will utilize inmates/trustee labor to collect and properly dispose of litter within the City of Columbia. The Part Time Litter Officer will provide direct supervision of the inmates, provide transportation for the detail as well as arrange for meals. The Part Time Litter Officer must maintain the requirements set by the National Law Enforcement Officer Safety Act (LEOSA). This position is part-time with working 3-4 days a week with a maximum of 24 hours per week. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The employee must maintain the requirements set by the National Law Enforcement Employee Safety Act (LEOSA). Will coordinate between the Support Services Division and Maury County Sheriff Department about inmate/trustee availability. Will report to and receive assignments of work days, hours and locations from the Support Services Division. Will work 3-4 days during the normal work week of Monday thru Friday for a maximum of 24 hours per week. The Employee will strive to maintain the safety and security of the inmates to prevent escape, avoid putting public at risk and avoid contraband from being introduced into the jail. Arrange and provide a meal for the inmates while performing this detail. Ensure the assignment of litter pickup is completed safely and thoroughly. Ensure the litter collected is properly disposed of at the end of each day. Record and report the week’s litter collection to the Support Services Division. SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: Performs other related duties as required SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS: Part Time Litter Officer will provide direct supervision of the inmates/trustees assigned to this detail. Requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The Part Time Litter Officer must maintain the requirements set by the National Law Enforcement Officer Safety Act (LEOSA). Must have a valid Tennessee divers license without excessive driving infractions or accidents. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS: City's Management Policies and purchasing practices and procedures; Must be able to drive a small van style bus while pulling a trailer. ABILITY: Establish and maintain effective working relationship with Maury County Sheriff Department. Strong work ethic allowing for unsupervised completion of daily tasks; Problem solving skills outside of traditional practices to allow for completion of task at hand; Maintains complete work records; Cleans work area and equipment; Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions; participates in meetings; Ability to write clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar; able to read and interpret written information; Ability to follow instructions, responds to management direction; completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan; Ability to meet scheduling and attendance requirements.
