Description The purpose of the Meat Cutter position is to assist the Meat and Cheese Assistant Manager in the quality, pricing, promotion and stocking of meat and seafood products to meet department objectives for sales, margin, turns, labor and customer service. To ensure a clean, growing, and well maintained meat and seafood department with exceptional quality. Essential Responsibilities and Functions Ensure department is full, fresh and delicious at all times to maximize sales and to keep shrink low Order, receive, display and sell all products in accordance with quality and merchandising standards Ensure food safety practices and product rotation are executed to maintain product shelf life, quality and safety Cut, weigh, wrap, price and package according to specifications Complete cut tests and assure that meat and seafood is cut to maximize yield and margin Maintain clean, attractive, fully stocked and fronted cases, ensuring seasonal changes and feeling of abundance Monitor and meet sales objectives leading to positive growth and operating results Assist as needed with daily operations, routines and procedures Requirements Qualifications Knowledge of organic, natural products, commercial growing practices, and organic certification regulations Available to work weekends, holidays, mornings and nights Projects an outgoing, friendly personality Ability to follow established systems, procedures and policies with great attention to detail Consistent follow-through on commitments and deadlines Ability to handle multiple demands, prioritize tasks and stay organized Flexible and adaptable to changing conditions and job requirements Min 3 years’ retail meat & seafood experience Knowledge of Meat and Seafood Ability to operate material handling equipment (i.e. pallet jack) and heavy duty meat cutters (i.e. bone saw)
Responsibilities
The Meat Cutter assists in the quality, pricing, and stocking of meat and seafood products to meet department sales and margin objectives. Responsibilities include cutting, weighing, wrapping, and packaging products while ensuring food safety and maintaining a clean, well-stocked department.
