SUMMARY AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:   * Job Posting Title   Medical Secretary - Urgent Care Job Description SUMMARY AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:   * Greet patients and family members. * This position is located in Littleton, NH * This is a part time position * Will be trained to perform urine drug screen collection and breath alcohol collection as needed * Assist the providers with the administrative aspects of their position to ensure the efficient operation of the office on a day-to-day basis. * Maintain confidentiality of peers, medical staff and all patient information. * Maintain provider appointment scheduling and any changes to their schedules. * Check patients in/out for their appointments. * Collect payments at time of service. * Schedule patients for return appointments and appointments with other departments. * Inform patients of designated appointment times of any scheduled tests. * Confirm next day appointments. * Register patients for the patient portal  * Update and verify patient demographics and insurance information. * Receive, screen and/or deliver telephone messages in a friendly, courteous manner. * Count petty cash drawer at closing. * May float to cover in other clinics as needed. * Any other duties as assigned. * Able to work a 12 hour shifts including weekend rotation from 8AM to 8PM   REPORTS TO:        Service Line Director and office manager   SUPERVISES:        None   INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL CONTACTS:   Patients and families, insurance companies, hospital personnel, pharmaceutical representatives, other physician offices, nursing home personnel. co-workers    QUALIFICATIONS:   Experience/Specialized Skills: Should have prior experience in a medical office.  Should have working knowledge of medical terminology, work processing, data entry and have strong customer service skills.  Must have good organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload to meet office needs.  Must have the ability to interact well with people and handle stressful situations appropriately.   Required Education/Course(s)/Training: High school diploma or equivalent   Required Certification/Registration: None   PHYSICAL DEMANDS:   See Physical Demands worksheet   WORK ENVIRONMENT:   Pleasant office surroundings.  Occasionally subjected to stressful situations.  May be exposed to communicable diseases and blood borne pathogens.
