Description

We are seeking a compassionate, energetic, and responsible Daycare Assistant to join our team. The Daycare Assistant will support lead teachers and caregivers in providing a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children. This role requires someone who loves working with children and can handle the daily challenges of a fast-paced daycare setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in Supervision: Help monitor and ensure the safety of children at all times, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Engage in Activities: Participate in age-appropriate activities, including playtime, arts and crafts, reading, and educational games.
  • Support Daily Routines: Assist with daily routines such as snack time, meal preparation, naptime, diaper changing, and bathroom assistance.
  • Classroom Maintenance: Help maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary environment by tidying play areas, disinfecting toys, and ensuring supplies are stocked.
  • Emotional Support: Offer emotional care and attention to children, responding to their needs and helping to create a positive, warm atmosphere.
  • Communicate with Parents: Provide brief updates to parents during drop-off and pick-up times regarding their child’s day and any notable events.
  • Team Support: Work closely with the lead teacher and other staff members, providing assistance wherever needed to ensure smooth operations.
  • Follow Safety Procedures: Adhere to all safety protocols and daycare policies, including emergency procedures and health guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED required. Early childhood education courses or certifications are a plus.
  • Experience: Previous experience in childcare, babysitting, or daycare setting is preferred.
  • Skills:
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, creativity, and a genuine love for working with children.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Basic knowledge of child development and behavior management.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 30 lbs, sit on the floor, and stand for extended periods.
  • Food handler certification an asset
