Description Part Time Office Assistant Purpose of Position: To help with day-to-day administrative duties. For more information contact Sunset Home at 217-223-2636 or apply at www.sunsetseniorliving.org. Requirements EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma. PC skills including but not limited to work processing and spreadsheets. Knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Internet and email. EXPERIENCE Must have clerical experience. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred, but not required. On-the-job training provided. SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner. Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action and to remain calm during emergency situations. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the general public. Must be knowledgeable of administrative practices, procedures, and guidelines. Must have the ability to minimize waste of supplies, misuse of equipment, etc. Possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices. Be able to follow written and oral instructions. Must be able to operate office equipment. Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents, staff, and visitors based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position. Must be able to sit, stand, bend and move intermittently throughout the workday. Must possess sight/hearing senses, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met. Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with other personnel. Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability. Must be able to lift, push, and move office equipment, supplies, etc., throughout the workday. Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility, which include a physical examination. Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times, hostile people within the facility, as well as on the phone.
Responsibilities
The primary purpose of this position is to assist with daily administrative duties for the office. This involves interacting tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the general public while maintaining administrative practices.
