The ideal candidate must possess a valid CDL with Passenger and School Bus (or SPAB) endorsements, along with a clean driving record. Responsibilities include ensuring student safety, adhering to designated routes and schedules, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies, and maintaining the vehicle in good condition. Responsibilities also include assisting passengers with loading and unloading, maintaining the cleanliness of the bus/van, and reporting any issues encountered during shifts. This position offers flexible on-call hours, primarily during afternoons, and requires a professional, punctual, and courteous attitude. Prior experience with student transportation is preferred. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES Drive students and school personnel on an as-needed basis Safely transport passengers Perform pre-/post-trip vehicle inspections Assist students in the loading and unloading process Maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle Maintain a list of student riders Support regular vehicle maintenance of all school vehicles Report on any student behavioral or vehicle maintenance issues Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications, education, experience and skill requirements EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILL REQUIREMENTS Qualifications: 5+ years of school bus/SPAB driving experience, preferably. Certifications include Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Passenger Endorsement, school bus or SPAB certificate, D.O.T. Compliance, and First Aid/CPR qualifications Clean driving record Detail-oriented, with proven ability to manage multiple tasks Ability to work independently and have a proven ability to complete projects Proven experience working with several populations, including students, parents, faculty, and school administrators Proven experience working as part of a team and independently Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in transportation and risk assessment Strong personal/professional background in transportation and driving skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to provide a positive role model to students and a commitment to their growth Compensation: $25 - $33 Hourly based on years of experience, credentials and other qualifications. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT Required to lift and carry up to a maximum of 25 lbs., in a correct manner consistent with the appropriate training provided by the School. Occasionally required to use hand to handle or feel objects, touch and use tools, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, bend, stoop, twist, lift, reach, push, pull, grasp, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, grasp, talk, hear, and walk during the course of employment. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and an ability to adjust focus. May use telephone, computer, copier, and other office equipment in the course of a day. May be required to sit while operating word processing equipment for up to 1-2 hours daily.
