WHAT YOU’LL DO:

As the Art Teacher, you will help students explore artistic expression, develop fine motor and creative thinking skills, and appreciate diverse artistic traditions. You will provide a safe and inspiring space where all students can express themselves and connect to global cultures through art.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design and implement a comprehensive visual arts curriculum aligned with state and national standards, and adapted to the needs of bilingual learners.
• Introduce students to a variety of artistic media, tools, and techniques (drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, digital art, etc.).
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and joyful studio environment that supports creativity, experimentation, and individual expression.
• Integrate cultural and global perspectives into lessons, including Francophone and other world art traditions.
• Assess and track student growth in artistic skills, effort, creativity, and participation; provide timely and constructive feedback.
• Organize and display student artwork throughout the school and during events to celebrate student learning and community pride.
• Maintain and organize art supplies, tools, and classroom space.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and the school team to connect visual arts to core academic content and school themes.
• Communicate regularly and effectively with families, in English or French when applicable.
• Participate fully in staff meetings, school events, and professional development activities.
• Reflect on teaching practice and seek continuous improvement through feedback and coaching.
