Part-time PhD position in Translational Type 1 Diabetes Research at Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen
Our team and research
We are seeking a candidate for a part-time PhD position at the Department of Clinical and Translational Research at Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen (SDCC). The candidate will be part of the Translational Omics and Islet Biology research team headed by senior researcher Joachim Størling. The team specializes in human cell models to study molecular disease mechanisms in type 1 diabetes, biomarker discovery, and mass spectrometry-based omics analyses.
About the project
The project aims to investigate the role of the transcriptional multi-subunit mediator complex in the pancreatic beta cells under inflammatory stress. The mediator complex is a master regulator of transcription, and individual subunits are hypothesized to specifically regulate beta-cell function and apoptosis.
The position
The PhD project has been ongoing since January 1st 2023. The position is a 18,5 hours per week. The candidate is expected to manage and drive the project forward under supervision by Joachim Størling and Jesper Johannesen Professor, MD. The candidate will conduct experiments in the laboratory applying human beta-cell models and primary human islets and investigate biomarkers in clinical samples.
Required qualifications
Recruitment and employment
As part of the recruitment procedure the candidate’s qualifications will be assessed by an academic assessment committee. The employment is in accordance with the Capital Regions collective agreements.
