The Kew-Forest School is a PS-12 co-educational day school in Forest Hills, NY, proudly serving a diverse student body that represents the multicultural landscape of Queens and New York City. We are seeking a Part-Time Front Desk Associate to support the school’s afternoon and evening operations. This individual will play a key role in ensuring smooth student pickups, maintaining a welcoming environment, and providing administrative support at the front desk.
The ideal candidate will be friendly, highly organized, and dependable, with strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced school environment.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience in customer service or reception roles is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with child pickup procedures and strong attention to detail to ensure safe student handoffs.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact positively and professionally with diverse individuals.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in basic office tasks, including answering phones, managing emails, and operating standard office equipment (e.g., computers, copiers).
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and maintain a consistent, reliable schedule.
  • Punctual, dependable, and committed to providing high-quality service.
    Compensation: $18–$22 per hour, commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities
  • Student Pickup (3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.)
  • Oversee the safe and organized pickup of Preschool through Grade 6 students at the end of the school day.
  • Build familiarity with parents, family members, and guardians to ensure proper identification and student safety.
  • Ensure that all parents, guardians, and students sign in and/or out using the school’s security system.
  • Use the school’s radio system to coordinate with afterschool program staff for the timely release of students upon guardian arrival.
  • Maintain accurate records of student pick-up and ensure students are only released to authorized individuals.
  • Front Desk Reception (6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.)
  • Greet students, parents, and visitors warmly and provide assistance in a professional manner.
  • Answer phone calls, address inquiries, and provide accurate information about the school and its events.
  • Monitor building access by verifying IDs and ensuring only authorized individuals enter the building.
  • Receive and manage deliveries, sign for packages, and notify recipients.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming front desk area.
  • Report any safety or security concerns to the appropriate personnel immediately.
  • Perform additional administrative duties as needed, including filing, data entry, and light clerical tasks.
