Cherish Integrated Services (CHIS) is a registered non-profit social services organization founded to provide services and support to promote social inclusion of persons with developmental disabilities in their communities. We are dedicated to provide systematic and holistic training programs with the concept of Structured Teaching as the core program model for the service recipients. We treasure the uniqueness and dignity of each individual, and aim to enhance their social functioning in daily living, and support them to live, work and actively participate in a wide range of daily activities.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Post-Secondary degree (completed or in progress) in a relevant field such as Child and Youth Care, Education, Social Work, Psychology, or Counselling.
- Minimum 1 year experience working with children/youth in a professional setting
- Must be fluent in English
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check
- Familiarity with common technological devices and softwares such as Google Apps, Microsoft Office, etc.
- All staff are required to be fully vaccinated as a condition of hire. Candidates will be required to show proof of vaccination during the recruitment process.

Responsibilities:
THE ROLE:
We are seeking a motivated and innovative Program Officer to support the growth of children and youth programs in our organization. This includes planning and executing individual one-on-one training programs and/or group programs for children and youth with developmental disabilities. The Program Officer will use Structured Teaching and other relevant training modalities to help the children understand more about themselves, develop their various skills, and learn how to integrate into society and the community.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage, plan and monitor the programs with critical analytical ability in order to enhance the quality of life and the independence in daily living of trainees.
- Design personal growth programs sensitively for trainees with varying ability levels and medical diagnoses.
- Provide and ensure a safe and stimulating learning environment for the trainees, including light cleaning and tidying of program spaces.
- Promote good communication with trainees’ families and or guardians.
- Provide crisis intervention for emergency situations.
- Deliver service with a good attitude, respectful, calm, and nonjudgmental manner.
- Knowledge of sensitivity and commitment to serving the special needs community.
- Prepare and make teaching materials to execute the program activities.
- Work as a team member to jointly deliver on organizational goals under the supervision of the Program Supervisor, Service Manager, and the leadership of the Executive Director in line with the overarching goals of the organization.
- Prepare accurate and complete case notes and records, correspondences, progress reports and other written materials.
- Attend and participate in trainee-related case reviews and conferences.
- Attend and participate in supervisory sessions with the Program Supervisor, Service Manager, or the Executive Director as scheduled.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings.
- Participate in any fundraising events or public events.
- Maintain strict confidentiality as outlined in agency privacy and confidentiality policy.
- Perform other duties/assignments as assigned by the Program Supervisor, Service Manager, and the Executive Director.
