We are now looking for a suitable person to fill the following position in the School of Education and Languages: Major Duties and Responsibilities The appointee will play a pivotal role in supporting a research project on second language (L2) English idiom processing. The primary responsibilities include: Assisting in the selection and categorization of English idioms based on predefined criteria; Contributing to the identification and analysis of cross-linguistic overlaps between English and Chinese idioms using a comparative framework; Supporting the design, development, and implementation of an online questionnaire using the Qualtrics platform to collect psycholinguistic and affective ratings from participants; Assisting in participant recruitment, including managing communications with a cohort of 400 Chinese L2 learners of English; Collecting and managing data obtained from the questionnaire, including cleaning, trimming, and coding responses to ensure data quality; Conducting preliminary data analysis, such as preparing descriptive statistics and correlation measures, and contributing to cross-linguistic analysis; Providing administrative support for the research project, including maintaining organized records of data and project-related documents; and Performing any other duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator to ensure the smooth progress and success of the research project. Candidates Candidates should meet the following qualifications and possess the relevant skills and experience: A recognized bachelor's degree, preferably in social sciences, linguistics, education, or related disciplines; Experience in research projects, particularly in tasks such as data collection, participant recruitment, and designing questionnaires; Proficiency in using online platforms (e.g., Qualtrics) for questionnaire design and data collection; Familiarity with statistical analysis software especially for correlation measures and with Excel or similar tools for data management and analysis; Proficiency in graphic and webpage design will have an added advantage; and Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability when handling multiple tasks.
