We are now looking for a suitable person to fill the following position in the School of Education and Languages: Major Duties and Responsibilities The appointee(s) will assist the Principal Investigator for the Research Project “Exploring communication skills in physiotherapy students: A mixed-method study”. The appointee(s) will be responsible mainly for the following: Assisting in video-recording physiotherapy consultations (student and experienced physiotherapists) during clinical placements and in real clinical settings; Transcribing and translating (Cantonese ↔ English) audio/video recordings verbatim; Conducting preliminary coding and discourse analysis of consultation transcripts using systemic functional linguistics framework; Assisting in recruitment, scheduling, and conducting semi-structured interviews with students, faculty, practitioners, and patients; Transcribing and performing initial thematic coding of interview data using NVivo; Helping with literature search, reference management, and preparation of reports/manuscripts; Performing general administrative and logistic support for the project; and Performing any other duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator. Candidates Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience, and competence: A Bachelor’s degree or above in Physiotherapy, Linguistics, Communication Studies, Health Sciences, Rehabilitation Sciences, or a related discipline; Good command of written and spoken English and Cantonese (knowledge of Mandarin is an advantage); Experience in transcription, qualitative data analysis, or discourse analysis is highly desirable; Familiarity with NVivo, or similar software is an advantage; Strong sense of responsibility, good organizational and communication skills; and Ability to work independently and as part of a team Terms and Conditions for Appointment Successful candidate will be appointed on a temporary part-time contract.
