As Alaska Gear Company continues to expand, we’re looking for a part-time Sales Associate to join our Anchorage team. We’re proud to offer a $1,000 retention bonus to the hired applicant as part of our commitment to building a strong, dedicated team. This position plays a key role in delivering exceptional customer experiences — from guiding bush pilots and outdoor adventurers to the right gear, to keeping our showroom organized and operations running smoothly.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous retail sales or customer service experience
  • Exceptional active listening and communication skills
  • Positive and engaging personality
  • Familiarity with aviation products is a plus but not required
  • Ability to take direction well and follow through with little or no supervision

Responsibilities
  • Providing professional and positive service to all customers.
  • Greet visitors in our retail showroom and assist them in finding the perfect product match for their outdoor adventures
  • Be able to complete point of sale transactions and navigate electronic inventory/sales platforms
  • Answer, evaluate, and prioritize incoming telephone calls providing general and detailed explanations/information in clear, easy to understand language to customers.
  • Request transfers from other locations for stock/special order customer requests, reorder inventory when low.
  • Organize back stock inventory and show room floor inventory.
  • Handle customer escalations.
  • Work with production staff for lead times on repairs and build times for custom projects or customer special order products.
  • Quote custom repair jobs.
  • Work with Marketing for store layout changes, new displays, and reorganize show room per season.
  • Perform weekly inventory checks.
  • Audit open orders and quotes weekly.
  • Other duties as assigned.
