Description Brighton Marine is committed to providing services to our nation’s veterans through a nationally recognized health care program, the development of 102-units of middle-income housing and 25 units of HUD VASH housing on campus, and evolving into a destination hub for a range of supporting services to ensure veterans and their families the long-term health, housing and help they deserve. We believe that achieving a comprehensive service strategy is dependent upon deliberate, strategic partnering with a full range of top-quality veterans’ service providers in the region and nationwide while identifying opportunities for direct service delivery through the Brighton Marine team. Job Overview We are looking for a Part-Time Security Officer for our Overnight Weekend (11:30PM - 8:00AM) Shift to provide safety and security needs for our nine-acre campus in Brighton, MA. We have seven buildings and 215,000 square feet of space. The buildings include 127 veterans housing units, 25 single-room occupancies at Veteran Housing at Brighton Marine, leased offices, medical space, Brighton Marine corporate headquarters, and extensive grounds. The Security Officer will provide professional security and customer service for commercial and residential environments. This Security Officer should have the following experience and knowledge, skills, and abilities: · Possess effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the general public in a professional and effective manner. · Ability to work in various environments such as cold weather, rain, snow, or heat. Ability to extensively patrol and climb stairs in normal and emergency situations. · Reliable and flexible when asked to work additional shifts outside of normal working shifts. May be asked to work overtime to fit the needs of the department. · Must be able to lift, carry, or move up to 30 pounds on a regular basis and 50 pounds on an occasional basis. · Through appearance, performance, and service orientation, project a consistent image that complements Brighton Marine. · High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required. · Intermediate computer skills to operate innovative, wireless technology on site. · First-Aid, CPR, and AED training required or willingness to obtain certification. Security Officer responsibilities: 1. Patrols buildings and grounds to ensure safety and security. Includes scheduled tours via detox-activating wand to record progress. 2. Record and maintain log databases such as but not limited to daily activities, inventory information, property damage, unusual occurrences, malfunctioning of machinery or equipment, incidents on site, and violations of Brighton Marine’s policies and procedures. 3. Speak to violators of any infractions, such as but not limited to loud/rude behavior, smoking in non-smoking areas, accessing restricted/unauthorized areas, engagement in or suspicion of criminal behavior and acts, and tenant violations. 4. Identifies conditions that could result in injury or loss due to but not limited to fire, water leakage, spills, or sewerage backup. Reports all findings to the proper management personnel. 5. Maintains parking and traffic control including directing traffic, operating security booth, ticketing unauthorized vehicles, and traffic foot patrols. 6. Monitors safety and security systems including closed circuit television (CCTV), Access System, Fire Alarm, Panic Alarm, and Key Alarms. 7. Authorizes and opens restricted areas for tenants and personnel in accordance with building rules and regulations. 8. Upon request and availability, provides walking escorts for tenants, patients, visitors, and employees from and to any location at Brighton Marine. 9. May be asked to perform basic janitorial duties. This position reports to the Security Manager and works closely with the Property Management Team. The ideal candidate is highly results-driven and a team player who can work independently and as a team has strong communication skills and has the ability to provide superb customer service. This is a full-time non-exempt position and requires flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays.
