JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The student in this opening will have numerous opportunities to produce high-quality professional portfolio pieces. The student will be responsible for producing social media and web content that helps tell the story of Penn State HDFS Department and its students. This opening will write social media posts, newsletter stories, manage the marketing board, etc., and help organizing the department advisory board meetings. The student will be supervised by the HDFS Program Coordinator.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Penn State student with an eligible Work-Study award and the ability to work 5-10 hours a week.
  • Must be able to work semi-independently and willing to take initiative on assigned projects.
  • Basic knowledge of storytelling, news writing, and social media best practices.
  • Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills along with attention to detail and proofreading skills.Must be comfortable using Microsoft Office products.

  • The starting hourly rate for this job is $14.00.
    Federal Work Study job performance is evaluated either annually or through ongoing mentorship. Responsibilities
  • Create stories for social media, websites, and/or digital mediums.
  • Familiar with how to operate photo cameras and/or video cameras.
  • Ability to conduct interviews and attend events as needed.
  • Update the HDFS board, brochures, flyers, and website content.
  • Assisting with department needs such as events, social media, video projects, etc.
  • Assisting with the organization of the Advisory Board meetings
