PART-TIME SUPPORT WORKER (WEDNESDAY DAYS)

We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker for a kind, crafty man who is non-verbal and has Down Syndrome. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in providing high quality care in the gentleman’s home and various settings in his community. This position requires a commitment to enhancing the quality of life of the employer through personalized care and support.
Employment Status: Part-time (8 hours per week)
Schedule: Wednesdays from 9am to 5pm. Some flexibility exists to start and end times outside of the timeframes listed below. This position comes with the possibility to have additional hours to cover when other staff are away.
Location: East Selkirk, Manitoba
Wage: $20.00 per hour

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Experience in the disability field is an asset, but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate. However, the successful candidate must:

  • Be comfortable going out in the community to events and locations as desired by the employer
  • Be comfortable driving the employer in their vehicle.
  • Have excellent communication skills and can effectively interact with the employer, families and health care professionals.
  • Have an ability to maintain a clean environment while adhering to safety standards.
  • Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others improve their quality of life.
  • Be honest, kind, punctual, reliable, patient and be able to move and be comfortable with a slower pace.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Full Driver’s License required
  • A vehicle that can be used for work.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check required
  • Clear Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check required
  • First Aid/CPR Required – if you do not have a valid CPR/First Aid certificate, you must complete within your first 6 months of employment

  • Document care provided and report any changes in condition to the appropriate personnel.
  • Ensure the employers needs are met with dignity and respect.
