Grand River Christian School (GRCS) is a K-8 private school based in Kitchener, Ontario. As we enter our fourth year of operations in the 2025-2026 school year, we are excited to announce that we are looking to hire a Part-Time Teacher and Administrative Assistant to assist in the day-to-day operations at GRCS.
GRCS is seeking a highly qualified individual who has a passion for education, specifically in the area of elementary education. The ideal candidate has keen attention to detail, is passionate about continuous improvement in the organization and administration of tasks and processes, and flexibility in the scope of duties.
The Part-Time Teacher and Administrative Assistant will report to the GRCS Principal. The position is expected to begin immediately (i.e. late August 2025). The ideal candidate embraces the ministry of service in children’s education, and embodies the mission, vision and values of the school. The job description below offers a general overview of the qualifications of the ideal candidate.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Education or related field)
  • Have a teaching certification from the Province of Ontario or another jurisdiction (preferred, but not required)
  • Have previous teaching experience at the elementary level (preference given to those with a minimum of 3 years)
  • The applicant must hold Canadian citizenship or permanent residency in Canada
  • The ability to command fluency in French is considered an asset, but not a requirement to be successful in the position

Responsibilities

The position offered includes a teaching role, support role, and occasional administrative tasks. Specific tasks expected of the Part-Time Teacher and Administrative Assistant role include, but are not limited to:

  • Teach elementary-aged children in class subjects assigned by the Principal
  • For clarity, this is not a homeroom teacher position, but a rotary teacher placement
  • Plan and prepare for classes in advance, including submission of long-range plans
  • Administer class assessments and maintain records of assessment, including progress and report cards
  • Supervise school grounds and halls as per duty schedule
  • Offer support in the homeroom classroom setting, as guided by the homeroom teacher
  • Oversee daily student attendance records
  • Contact parents and/or emergency contacts in case of emergency or a sick student
  • Organize, update, and maintain student OSR files
  • Answer the school phone and monitor the front door
  • Administer basic first aid (bandaids, ice packs, etc.)
  • Assist in organizing school events and fundraisers
  • Prepare forms for distribution to parents, such as field trip permission forms
  • Aid in the preparation and distribution of report cards
  • Maintain school records, such as student rosters and contact information
  • Supervise students who have been sent to or are visiting the office
  • Organize supply teacher coverage as needed
  • Participate in staff meetings
  • Assist in student enrollment and registration
