UWCSEA Dover has a vacancy for a Part-Time Teacher of Swedish for our Home Languages Programme (HLP) from September 2025.
The Home Languages Programme is for students who want to maintain a language spoken at home but who do not study this language as part of the academic curriculum during the school day at appropriate level. This programme offers students the opportunity to gain cultural understanding of the language, as well as improve their literacy skills.
The students’ a g e s are from 4 to 1 8 y e a rs o ld. Classes are taught in small groups of 3 to 6 students of similar a g e s and linguistic levels and will take place after school (or at lunchtime for some younger students).
To apply for this role, you must reside in Singapore. Please note that we may not be able to sponsor a work pass for this role.

Main Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and teach classes as required.
  • Exhibit good classroom management skills.
  • Use digital resources to enhance students’ learning.
  • Provide samples of students’ learning in the school online learning platform for parents to follow students’ progress.
  • Provide feedback to parents
  • Collaborate with the other teachers of the Swe dish Language Department in developing a Swedish Language Curriculum.

Person Specifications

  • Applicants must be degree holders with language teaching experience. Candidates without teaching qualifications but possess experience teaching a g e groups from 4 to 16 y ea rs old with appropriate resources are encouraged to apply.
  • Candidates must have the ability to teach Swedish to students who speak Swe dish as their home language or are Heritage speakers of Swe dish.
  • A commitment to diversity and inclusion is essential alongside a willingness to adapt and develop pedagogy to meet the needs of our learners.
  • Contribute positively and collaboratively to the development of Swe dish Language and Culture in the Home Languages Programme.
  • Promote cultural exchange and cross-cultural understanding, and to embed Swe dish customs, history and traditions in the lessons.
