About the Role
We are seeking a part-time Teaching Assistant to work with children who require additional support to access education outside of a traditional classroom setting. You will work on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, helping children from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 3 engage with learning and grow in confidence.
This role is flexible and varied, and you’ll work in multiple environments—including schools, community centres, and vocational settings—ensuring support is tailored to each child’s needs.

Key Details

  • Role Type: Part-Time (3 days/week), Permanent
  • Working Hours: 08:30 – 15:30
  • Schedule: Choose any 3 days per week, but Friday is required
  • Salary : £19,000
  • Contract: Term-time only (school holidays unpaid)
  • Start Date: Ongoing – multiple start dates available
  • Location: Mansfield and surrounding areas
  • Travel: May include transporting pupils between sites (mileage reimbursed)

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Delivering 1:1 support tailored to individual pupils’ emotional and educational needs
  • Facilitating small group activities to build peer confidence
  • Helping children regulate behaviour and build emotional resilience
  • Supporting academic and vocational learning in non-traditional settings
  • Liaising with vocational tutors and subject specialists
  • Upholding safeguarding responsibilities at all times
  • Building strong, trusted relationships with pupils and staff
  • Reporting on pupil progress and identifying areas for development

Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for individuals with a genuine passion for supporting children who may not fit the traditional education system.

RELEVANT BACKGROUNDS MAY INCLUDE:

  • Teaching Assistants or Nursery Nurses
  • Youth Workers
  • SEND or Residential Care Support Workers
  • Anyone with experience working with children in support-focused roles

Training & Career Development

  • Full Induction Programme: Includes classroom training, shadowing, and mentoring support
  • Fully Funded Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification: Available after 6 months, with increased pay upon completion
