ABOUT US:

We are a small but growing medical practice seeking a Medical Office Assistant to support our administrative, billing, and operational functions on a part-time, temporary basis, with potential for longer-term work. This role is well-suited for college students pursuing healthcare-related studies who want practical experience, or for experienced individuals looking to supplement income or stay active professionally.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Some experience in medical office administration, billing, or related healthcare roles (internship or coursework may be considered).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and strong data entry skills.
  • Familiarity with medical billing and insurance claim processes preferred (training available).
  • Experience with EMR systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, CMS standards, and healthcare regulations.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Background in nursing, acute care, dental clinics, or veterinary settings is advantageous but not required.

COMPLIANCE & BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have a clean background, with no criminal history, Medicare/Medicaid sanctions, or compliance-related issues.
  • References and background check required prior to hire.
Responsibilities
  • Collect and verify patient insurance information.
  • Review insurance rejections/denials and collaborate with clinicians and billing staff to resolve issues.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other healthcare regulations to maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Develop policies and procedures to improve office efficiency and patient satisfaction.
  • Maintain relationships with vendors, insurance companies, and external partners.
  • Report hours worked on a weekly basis.
