Part Time Veterinarian Job Summary: The Disease Modeling Division of Genesis Drug Discovery and Development is seeking a part time veterinary support for our facility. The position would include - serving as a research veterinarian and providing oversight of animal care and laboratory protocols to ensure compliance with veterinary standards and statutory requirements. Liasing with research associates, team members, and senior staff to facilitate the execution of high-quality preclinical research studies. As a member of the IACUC, reviewing AUPs and attending meetings ~every 2 months. Conducting monthly walkthroughs, semi-annual program review and post-approval monitoring. Contributing to training and assisting in AAALAC recertification. Responsibilities: Ensure the condition and care of the animal facility comply with institutional standards and policies; local, state, and federal regulations; and AAALAC guidelines Provide recommendations and training on, animal handling, laboratory techniques, sedation, anesthesia, surgical and post-surgical care, and other procedures. Remain current on related industry trends and expectations Serve as a member of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and review AUPs. Conduct monthly walkthroughs, semi-annual program review and post-approval monitoring. Contribute to training and assist in AAALAC recertification. Be on-call for emergencies (extremely rare) Work with Invivotek management to establish and maintain a program of adequate veterinary care Perform all other related duties as assigned Job Qualifications: General Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA’s) required DVM, DACLAM (or equivalent experience). Licensed to practice veterinary medicine in New Jersey is preferred. Board certification is an advantage Minimum of 2 years related experience in the contract research, academic, or pharmaceutical industry. Experience with rodent models of human disease Knowledge of regulatory requirements for in vivo programs Concise and effective written and verbal communication skills including knowledge of scientific vernacular necessary. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills. Able to work in a fast-paced matrix environment Workplace Conditions: Workplace Environment Conditions Most work done remotely but visits are required Physical Demands: Physical, Mental and workplace Environment Conditions The employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
