This position performs chemical and mechanical cleaning of parts and other metal products by hand, solvent bath or other processes to remove unwanted materials. Duties and responsibilities Operate parts cleaning equipment to clean parts between processes. Performs in process cleaning, air drying, and buffing. Immerses metal products in chemical cleaning and stripping solutions. Cleans and maintains cleaning tanks and equipment and monitors chemicals through titration checks. Moves between production assignments that utilize multiple skills endorsements as needed to support production requirements. Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting any unsafe conditions or practices. Prepares and masks surfaces prior to cleaning. Check parts for machining irregularities and communicate any problems to management. Review the part information sheet to determine proper cleaning tools. Count parts, record quantities, and move parts to the next work center. Performs any related duties as required or assigned to ensure efficiency of the Company. Requirements Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Experience using a grinder, tape measure, forklift, and overhead crane Strong attention to detail required. Physical requirements While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, communicate, reach and manipulate objects, tools or controls. Minimum physical exertion. Duties involve moving materials weighing up to 10 pounds on a regular basis and up to 20 pounds on an occasional basis. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 75% of the work period while operating equipment such as computer keyboard, mouse, phone, and similar machines.

Responsibilities

The Parts Cleaner operates cleaning equipment to remove unwanted materials from metal products and performs in-process cleaning. They are also responsible for maintaining cleaning tanks, monitoring chemicals, and ensuring safety compliance.
