Barton Truck Centre Ltd. is a long-standing heavy-duty truck and trailer repair facility that services a wide variety of fleet customers with a primary focus on vocational vehicles and equipment. The position calls for an efficient and organized individual who possesses the ability to pay very close attention to detail. The individual in this position will be required to organize and coordinate purchasing activities related to all ongoing in-shop service jobs, some out-of-shop service jobs, customer parts orders and special orders. In addition, they will implement and maintain established procedures in regards to effective inventory control for the purpose of maintaining accurate inventory.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be mechanically inclined and possess some experience working in a Motive Power parts or repair environment and dealing with different makes of vehicles and/or equipment;
  • Technical knowledge in the heavy-duty vehicle or automotive industry is required;
  • Demonstrates a strong ability to easily use and navigate computers and various programs in the execution of their duties and possess a high comfort level with digital communication and data entry;
  • Team oriented individual able to work constructively and cooperatively with Service team members as well as with the technicians they are there to support;
  • Must be able to communicate well with others in order to locate, secure and track parts in a timely and efficient manner in order to avoid delays in the servicing of vehicles by the technicians;
  • Demonstrates a strong ability to easily use and navigate computers and various programs in the execution of their duties and possess a high comfort level with digital communication and data entry;
  • Shows professionalism, particularly when working with all members of the Service team, technicians, customers, suppliers and administrative staff;
  • Must be fluent in English and possesses strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment;
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.;
  • Willingness to learn and take control of your duties

Responsibilities
  • Order non-stocking parts for the technicians for ongoing jobs
  • Generating and tracking purchase orders for purchase of immediate parts needs and inventory;
  • Accurate and timely data entry of parts details onto existing work orders;
  • Maintain parts inventory and assist with overall organization of the parts department;
  • Assist in the day-to-day activities in the Parts Department, including looking up parts, following-up on orders and handing out some parts to technicians in the shop;
  • Provide timely parts support and requested parts information to Service Advisors and Manager;
  • Reply to all forms of communication (phone, email, text, etc.) directed to them in a timely manner;
  • Ensure that backorders are up to date;
  • Ability to research and identify heavy truck and trailer components
