Responsibilities

The Parts Manager is responsible for running a profitable and efficient parts department by utilizing proper purchasing procedures, inventory control, staffing efficiencies, pricing strategies, merchandising, and marketing. He or she must be knowledgeable about automotive parts and accessories and must have strong managerial experience and leadership qualities to organize and motivate a team. The Parts Manager is also responsible for managing department staff.

  • Maintain an orderly workplace and properly staff the department, which includes hiring, training, motivating, and monitoring the performance of all parts department staff.
  • Administer and maintain a balanced inventory consistent with the requirements of the manufacturer.
  • Establish competitive pricing parameters and strategies in various categories while generating sufficient profits and maintaining high customer satisfaction.
  • Regulate appropriate inventory levels while ensuring periodic parts turnover.
  • Adjust stock to curtail accumulation of unused or old parts.
  • Ensure inventory is appropriate to meet customer demand while controlling obsolete and excess inventory.
