The Parts Person supports the Parts Department by handling parts sales, shipping & receiving of inventory, lookup and sourcing of parts and opening and closing of invoices, core and warranty returns.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Should have good interpersonal skills for interacting with customers and understanding their requirements;
- Above average computer skills to include: Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel. Knowledge of Softbase operating system preferred, but not required;
- Should have the aptitude of working in a team;
- Knowledge of warehouse and material inventory controls, procedures and practices;
- Physical capabilities necessary to perform the duties of the position, including the ability to lift in excess of 50lbs;
- Valid Driver’s License with safe driving record.
- Completion of Grade 12;
- 2-4 years’ experience related training and experience;
- Experience in an Automotive/Industrial parts department will be considered an asset.
Responsibilities:
- Interact with customers (internal/external), catering to their specific requirements and addressing queries;
- Sell parts to meet the customer’s needs and repair the problem;
- Follow up on customer orders and complete tasks as assigned by the manager and/or outlined in our SOPs;
- Record all parts sales transactions in our operating system;
- Professional communication via phone, email and in person with customers per our CES Standards;
- Supports the Parts Department including the shipping & receiving of inventory, lookup and sourcing of parts and opening and closing of invoices, core and warranty returns;
- When working the parts counter, follows prescribed cash, credit, and cheque SOPs of the dealership;
- Processes cores, warranties, and new return merchandise as required at a point of sale;
- Maintains the retail sale floor and displays to meet or exceed the dealerships standards;
- Assists in keeping the parts department, inventory warehouse and shipping & receiving clean and orderly;
- Attends training as prescribed by management to maintain proficiency in his/her job description;
- Demonstrates a positive team attitude with a willingness to learn;
- Uses dealership equipment and resources safely and proficiently;
- Other duties as assigned.
